How does AB-731 differ from AB-730?
AB-731 is for business decision-makers who guide AI transformation with Microsoft 365 Copilot and Microsoft Foundry: the business value of generative AI (35-40%), Microsoft's AI apps and services (35-40%) and an adoption strategy (20-25%). AB-730 is for people who use Microsoft 365 Copilot and prebuilt agents in their own work, without writing code: generative AI fundamentals, prompts and chats, business content and collaboration, and agents. Both are Beginner-level, 45-minute exams in the same 13 languages (AB-731 certification page, AB-730 certification page, Microsoft's AB-730 study guide).
Does AB-731 include hands-on labs?
AB-731's certification page says the exam is proctored and that "You may have interactive components to complete as part of this exam"; it does not mention labs. Microsoft does not publish a list of exams with labs, because labs can be removed at any time, and it does not identify question formats before an exam. Its exam-experience page shows samples of question types you might see on an exam, including case studies, drag and drop, build list and labs, and its exam sandbox lets you try them. Does the Microsoft Certified: AI Transformation Leader certification expire?
Microsoft's AB-731 pages do not say whether the Microsoft Certified: AI Transformation Leader certification expires. Microsoft's renewal page says that Fundamentals certifications do not expire and that associate, expert and specialty certifications are renewed each year through a free, unproctored, open-book online assessment on Microsoft Learn; Microsoft's AB-731 study guide adds that associate, expert and specialty certifications expire annually. AB-731 is labelled Beginner, a level neither statement names, so treat the validity as unpublished and check your Microsoft Learn profile after you pass.
